Our chapter

Charleston chefs, organized since 1984.

The Greater Charleston South Carolina Chapter is the Charleston-area chapter of the American Culinary Federation: a professional community for chefs, cooks, students, educators and the businesses that supply them.

What we're about

Camaraderie. Education. Giving back.

Those three ideas have long defined this chapter, and they still describe the job.

Camaraderie

Kitchens can be isolating. The chapter is where Charleston's culinary professionals meet as peers, outside the pressure of service.

Education

From certification seminars to tours of local producers and distributors, chapter meetings are built around learning something useful.

Giving back

Supporting culinary students and the wider Charleston community has been part of the chapter's identity from the start.

History

Rooted in Charleston since 1984.

Founded in 1984. The chapter's 2019 calendar shows the rhythm it was built on: Monday evening meetings hosted by the people who grow, supply and teach, with a summer break for the busy season.

The chapter's earlier websites are no longer maintained. This site replaces them.

Now

A new chapter for the chapter.

We're rebuilding the calendar, the board and the membership around what Charleston's culinary community needs today. If you've been a member before, come back. If you're new, this is a good time to get in.
